On March 6, 2016 we lost our dear friend Tony Cotner of Cotner’s Turquoise & Gold, Arizona.
The word ‘miner’ conjures up the vision of an old bearded man with a pick in one hand and a shovel in the other. The word ‘turquoise miner’ around the older Tucson exhibitors brings up the image of Tony Cotner.
Tony was the longest ‘miner’ exhibiting in Tucson, over 37 memorable years. His stories and escapades always had an eager listening ear from the G&LW founder, Bob Schabilion. ‘Cousin Tony’ always referred to him as ‘Uncle Bob’, and they would spend hours talking about mines and mining. We would like to think that ‘Cousin Tony’ and ‘Uncle Bob’ are still sharing their stories together in ‘Rock Hound Heaven’.
Tony, your lime green color and ‘fur babies’ will be missed at the show!
